Take Part - Social Learning to Take Part in Social Movements:

Understanding the Social Transformation of Civic Participation

The Stakeholders Map – a tool for understanding contemporary civic participatioN

The democratic process faces a paradox: while traditional forms of civic engagement are in decline, fuelling fears of a democratic crisis, emerging social movements defy this trend by using digital media to mobilize collective action and drive political change.

In this context, the Take Part project explores how these movements translate online interactions into offline activism, contributing to a renewed understanding of civic participation in contemporary Europe.

The Stakeholder Map serves as an analytical tool within this research, mapping key actors – nongovernmental organizations, public institutions, informal networks, business stakeholders, and international partners – that shape the civic participation landscape across Romania, Germany, Spain, Hungary, and the United Kingdom. It provides a comparative perspective on transnational democratic dynamics and on the connections between civil society, the political sphere, and the digital environment.

If you know other actors relevant to the Take Part project’s objectives, we warmly invite you to share them with us — your contribution will help us keep this map a living and continuously evolving resource.
